I'm Nia Hadenfeldt the founder of Hadenfeldt Music.  I began my musical career in primary school where I took up the flute and hated it so much so that I gave it up that same year.  The following year I begged my mother to let me try again and there was three instruments left, a trumpet, a trombone and a saxophone.  I was lucky enough that an older student at my school let me have the saxophone, I had an inspiring teacher and I took to it like a duck to water and haven't looked back since.  During my school years I joined the school bands and toured all over Queensland and was fortunate enough to compete in many eisteddfods and be part of the Queensland Symphonic Winds Band.

I went on to study Classical Music at university and after a while joined the dark side and signed up to the Jazz Course.  I hold a Bachelor of Music Classical, Jazz and Pop Performance, a Diploma of the Arts majoring in Geography and Aboriginal Studies, a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning (Secondary) where I graduated with Distinction and am a Kindermusik trained educator and business owner.  I have been fortunate enough to have studied under some amazing tutors such as Graham Jesse (Australian Jazz Educator and Composer) and Dr Tim Price (Jazz Educator and Performer USA).

I have over 15 years experience in teaching music and playing in various bands and performing solo in all genres from classical, jazz, blues, pop, rock, electronic, music theatre and even an Australiana band.  I have composed and arranged for the Western Australian Mandolin Band and can play a huge range of instruments.  I have a solid passion for education and have 12+ years of teaching instrumental experience with a variety of instruments and ages with my youngest student starting at the tender age of 4 and my oldest student who was 80 years of age.  I returned home to South-West Queensland to raise my daughter and bring my experience and love of music to our area. In 2019 I was awarded a "Australian of the Year Cultural Citizen Award Medallion" for my contribution to the Arts within the Balonne Shire. These days I teach in schools and privately and still perform regularly as a solo artist and with my two bands - "When Sonny Getz Blue" a jazz band and "Fe Fi Fo Fum" a pub rock band.  Recently we also opened for the Paul Kelly and Friends Concert in Dirranbandi, Queensland and were the main act for the Yowah Opal Festival which was an absolute hoot! We often travel all over for gigs and love what we do!

My greatest achievements are being able to instil a love of music into my students and my own child.  Music is not just a passion for me, its an essential part of life, a universal language, the fundamental skills for social and emotional learning in addition to many other skills that are indespenseable to live, uniting the human race and just being a great human and whether you want to just learn to play for enjoyment or whether you want to play at a professional level, I would love to help support you on your journey.
