How it all came about....
In 2020 my daughter expressed a desire to take ballet lessons, from a wee tot she was always dancing and putting on dance shows using a variety of genres of music from Bhangra to Jazz to Classical to inform her dance moves....we began taking private lessons with the tutor and she wanted to be able to share her love of dance with her friends so we asked the tutor if she was willing to come to Dirranbandi to offer classes, we started with 5 weeks of classes that would accumulate in a performance at the Dirranbandi Christmas in the Showgrounds. There was a great response for students of all ages that even travelled from surrounding towns to attend and we have decided that in 2021 we would continue to fill this void that is missing from our town. The Tutor
After growing up on an Australian farm, Gigi Pinwill started her ballet education with the Darling Downs School of Excellence in Dance under the professional guidance of Beth Baird. She received scholarships for outstanding achievement and has studied with the Sydney Dance Company, Adelaide School of Irish Dance, The Freeman Centre and many more. She has performed in ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Snow White’, ‘A Twilight Performance’ and enjoyed a lead role in ‘Twelve Dancing Princesses’ to name a few of her accomplishments. After performing in Bollywood dance groups, she became a full-time dance teacher at one of the world’s oldest and largest dance franchises the Arthur Murray Dance Studio teaching Latin Dance and Ballroom Dance. Gigi has also taught Kinderballet which was a rewarding experience.
In addition to her huge experience as a dancer and dance teacher, Gigi also is a professional actor, singer, musician and model. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern Queensland and has studied at NIDA - National Institute of Dramatic Art, some of her arts experiences include working on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Joseph’s Technicoloured Dreamcoat’ production, a role as a nurse on the hit TV show ‘Offspring’ and you may have
Gigi often travels for work and has decided to make the South West her base for now as she is passionate about bringing the arts to rural and remote areas. Gigi holds a current blue card and can provide both that and her professional resume upon request.
